Merry Christmas!

It looks like we are finally getting out of that very cold snap of -35C we had for the last 10 days.

Weanlings are doing fine, running all over the place . All the Canadians went so easily through that cold period. you have to love that breed!
here are a few pick of the horses with their winter coat.

Busy season over.

we are now done with our riding stables and pack trips season. Now it is time to relax a bit more and work with those horses.

Since my last post we finished foaling season and got 9 beautiful foals,  2 from our stallion Cromwell and 7 from Pacha, who was able to pass his bloodline before he died at the age of 26 years old, thank you Pacha!!

We have now 5 weanling learning to live without their mom, the first 48 hours is hard but soon they start playing with each other. No snow yet in Brule, fall has been nice.
here a  pic of the herd.

Nico survived his 1st backcountry trip

At the end of July, I decided to train Nico, my Canadian gelding , to his first 4 days packing trip into Jasper National Park.

we climbed 3500 ft in 4 hours. Never this little 14.3hh horse showed fatigue. Some guest were impressed by his sure footing on the rocky trail that brings us to our lodge, Shovel Pass Lodge.
Next day, more training for Nico, we go out on top of the Maligne Range on the famous Skyline Trail  riding above tree line, 7000 ft,Suddenly, a  thunder storm came in the valley, no time to hide we kept going, rode in deep sand and faced strong wind and even some hale. What a beginning for my horse......He just did amazing, I was so proud of him.
At night we turned them loose with bell to graze, Nico never had a bell in his neck  before, he did not even notice the loud noise, too busy to go free in the meadow to eat grass.
here are a few pictures of our unforgettable trip!

July news....

Been too busy outfitting lately to publish , latest news is that Ustica our oldest mare foaled a tall beautiful filly from Cromwell and

Recently, Moka, our 6 years old maiden mare also foaled , this time a stud colt from Pacha. Now we only one more to come with Heritage.

Temis Chantecler Kassie foaled!

Hi all,

Yesterday, our beautiful mare Kassie foaled, a beautiful black filly from our stallion Cromwell.
here are the first pictures.

Riding with my sister.

My sister Josee from Quebec and her husband visited us for a week. Of course , I had to take them on a trail ride in Brule.

We received lots of rain during their visit so on the first sunny day, we jump on our horses to ride.

An other outstanding stallion

Ema ( Emeraude) gave us again... an exceptionnal foal. I have to admit that I am bias because Ema is Nico's Dam,my precious gelding.

now we have 2 potential stallions to keep Pacha line alive....Here are a few pictures.

Our future Pacha stallion

He was born at 10:00 pm , from Gazelle full sister, Rody Magic Praline. A first foal for Praline, she was not sure what to do with an other horse walking under her belly all the time but she did real good for a first.

This beautiful bay stud colt will probably be our future Pacha line Stallion.

2nd foal!

Just 12 days after Gazelle, Heureuse foaled of a beautiful stud colt from Pacha .

It is foaling season....

We have been busy with the foaling season at Double Diamond. Our first filly from our dearest stallion Pacha who suddenly left us last December, was born on April 22. From our beautiful and athletic mare Rody Magic Gazelle, we are proud to introduce you Ultime.
